Weeding in the rain

The rain poured down but we hardy souls did a good morning's work on Thursday 25th September at the foredune opposite Bryan Way. A group of volunteers from the Catholic education office joined Cottesloe Coastcare volunteers for the working-bee. Some people collected rubbish on the beach and others cut off weed seed heads (dune onion weed pictured), some cut out sea spinach and other weeds which were smothering the local plants.
Seedlings planted in 2007 and 2008 are generally doing well although the recent dry spell put many of this year's plantings under great stress. Despite the fact we all got very wet indeed, the rain was very welcome.

Many thanks to the teachers from the Catholic Education office who helped us in our work and provided the delicious morning tea. Please come again...and it's fine by us if you bring the rain next time too!
